Job Description
Role Summary:
As an Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, providing financial analysis, and supporting strategic decision-making. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations and accounting activities within an organization. Your position will require a high level of expertise in financial management, budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management:
- Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial operations.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide recommendations to the reporting manager.
- Prepare and manage the annual budget, including the allocation of resources and monitoring of expenditures.
2. Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct financial analysis, interpret data, and communicate findings to reporting Manager.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulatory requirement.
3. Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Coordinate and oversee internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with audit requirements and addressing any findings.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations, and implement necessary adjustments to accounting processes.
4. VAT Compliance and Reporting:
- Review and analyze transactions to determine VAT applicability and ensure correct VAT treatment.
- Stay updated on UK VAT laws, regulations, and guidelines, and ensure compliance with all applicable requirements.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely VAT returns to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
- Reconcile VAT accounts and resolve any discrepancies should issues are identified.
5. Communication and Relationship Management:
- Act as the main point of contact for VAT-related inquiries from internal management, external auditors, tax authorities, and other relevant parties.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as finance, operations, and executive management, to support business objectives and initiatives.
- Communicate financial results, analysis, and recommendations to reporting manager or management.
Skills
MUST HAVE – Acquired a strong knowledge about Value Added Tax (VAT) system in the United Kingdom.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent certification.
- Proven experience in accounting and financial management, ideally in a managerial role.
- Up-to-date knowledge and experience in UK VAT regulations, compliance, and reporting.
- Proven experience in VAT accounting, including VAT return preparation and submission.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance regulations.
- Strong understanding of VAT treatment for various transactions, including domestic and international transactions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
