About the job Accountant
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing accounts specifically within educational institutions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing accurate financial reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Handle budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for the institution.
- Assist with the preparation of tax returns and ensure timely submission.
- Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
- Collaborate with department heads to manage and monitor departmental budgets.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and information.
- Implement and maintain financial controls to safeguard the institutions assets.
- Stay updated with changes in financial regulations and standards related to the education sector.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting within educational institutions.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance specific to the education sector.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
