Job Description:
The Collections Manager is responsible for preserving, cataloguing, and maintaining valuable assets.
Responsibilities:
·Collection Maintenance: Oversee preservation and care of items including artwork, artifacts, and documents. Monitor handling, develop custom mounts, and label objects. Manage environmental data and pest management.
·Cataloguing and Documentation: Maintain detailed records, develop condition reports with images, and enter data into the Collections Management Database.
·Inventory Management: Conduct regular and spot inventories to ensure accurate records.
·Conservation Oversight: Conduct visual inspections, flag concerns, and coordinate with conservation professionals.
·Security and Risk Management: Implement security protocols to safeguard the collection.
Qualifications:
·Bachelor's degree in Art History, Museum Studies, Library Science, or related field
·Strong knowledge of best practices, cataloguing standards, conservation principles, and security protocols.
·Proficiency with collection management software.
·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
