Advanta Development Europe Turkey Simulation is a Software R&D Group in Ankara. This group brings together the fields of utility network planning, simulation, analysis and network model management with the PSS® Product Suite (PSS® power system simulation and modeling software). Grid Simulations a focus area which mainly employ new ways throughout the different fields of application in order to build proficient software solutions and products. To accomplish the mission of the group, the candidate will perform as Power System Dynamics Engineer and grow on software development as supporting side discipline.

Power System Dynamics Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, developing and testing power systems software in variety of programming languages according to the contributed project environment. The candidate also works as a consultant in PSS®E global software development team to support “Power System Dynamics” for the implemented solution. In this role, candidate is supposed to do numerical electrical analysis, as well as software development on related algorithms. Additionally, the candidate will directly report to a local manager, plus functionally collaborate with the local and global project stakeholders.


What are my responsibilities?


·Working within international software development teams across global locations to research, develop, maintain, and support commercial application software for electrical power system modeling and analysis (such as Power System Dynamics, Load flow, Contingency, etc.),


·Showing proficiency in numerical electrical analysis and being able to develop, alter algorithms in software when necessary.


·Applying, developing, and maintaining software applications and components under the direction of the development manager(s),


·Participating in analysis of tasks required for development, providing accurate effort estimation, actively participating in project status reviews and technical discussions, 


·Working in an agile software development environment,


·Maintaining software architectures that serves Energy Domain requirements,


·Participating in documentation process of the software. Taking ownerships in Siemens wide organizational roles to support working as One Global Team


What do I need to qualify for this job?


Required Qualifications:


  • B.S. and/or M.S/Ph.D. degree in Electrical or Electrical-Electronics Engineering,
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Power System Analysis,
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in software development,
  • Strong knowledge of Power System Dynamics
  • Understanding of software application development
  • Experience or interest in ownership of processes (e.g. backlog management, documentation, quality aspects) in a team of engineers from different domains,
  • Experience in forming, altering, and simulating with electrical models specialized on various analysis.
  • Experience in converting data between different data models (such as GIS data to network model, OR excel tabular data to network model),
  • Understanding of clean and well documented code

Preferable Additional skills/experiences (i.e. is a plus):


  • Understanding of object-oriented concepts, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and software development principles,
  • Experience in working with software languages such as C++, Fortran, or Python etc.
  • Familiarity with testing approaches,
  • Experience or interest in development with any other languages (e.g. scripting languages),
  • Experience in Software life cycle and agile methodologies (especially SAFe framework),
  • Experience in development with license management systems and tools,
  • Experience in continuous integration and continuous deployment concepts and tools,
  • Experience using code version control tools, such as GIT,

What else do I need to know?


  • Excellent command of English is a must, German is a plus.
  • No restrictions for travelling abroad temporarily.
  • Military service should be completed for male candidates or postponed more than 2 years.
