Job Title: Planning and Purchasing Manager

Purpose of Role:

The Planning and Purchasing Manager leads and oversees the procurement and planning functions, ensuring cost-effective purchasing of materials, equipment, and services while aligning production schedules with strategic business objectives. This role is critical in supplier relationship management, inventory control, cost optimization, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance supply chain efficiency. By driving strategic sourcing initiatives and process improvements, the Planning and Purchasing Manager ensures operational excellence and long-term business success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Procurement & Supplier Management: Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans to optimize cost, quality, and supplier performance. Establish strong supplier relationships, conduct performance reviews, and negotiate favorable contract terms.


  • Production & Inventory Planning: Oversee production planning to align manufacturing schedules with business objectives and market demand. Work closely with inventory teams to manage stock levels, ensuring material availability while minimizing holding costs.


  • Process Optimization & Risk Management: Implement continuous improvement initiatives to streamline procurement and planning processes. Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and industry regulations.


  • Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead and mentor a high-performing planning and purchasing team. Collaborate with finance, operations, sales, and engineering departments to align procurement strategies with company-wide objectives.


Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; MBA preferred. Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement, planning, or supply chain management.


  • Technical & Analytical Skills: Strong proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), MRP planning, and forecasting tools. Expertise in data analysis and strategic decision-making.


  • Soft Skills & Leadership: Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and drive cross-functional collaboration. Proven leadership capabilities with experience in team development.


  • Certifications & Industry Knowledge: APICS (CPIM/CSCP), CPM, or CPSM certification preferred. Experience in mining, machine manufacturing, or lean manufacturing principles is a plus. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.


  • Fluent in English.
