Job Description

The role


We are evolving as a region and to help our develop our customer first focus. As part of this evolution, we are moving towards to geographical based organisational model and in this restructure we are looking for someone to head up our legal team in Eastern Europe. This role will be the most senior legal role within that cluster, and you will report to the head of the cluster with a dotted line to the European Head of Legal.


You will manage the country legal teams across the cluster and provide the strategic direction for the team to help meet legal responsibilities as well as being the legal counsel for the regional leadership team. This is an incredibly varied that will include helping to set up new legal entities in countries we are expanding to, reacting to and providing advice amongst changing geopolitical landscape, anticipating any legal labour issues amongst other things.


You will be managing a small team and as such will provide mentorship and guidance. The team are based in each of the cluster countries and so you will be managing them remotely but will require travel during key times of the year. You will also be involved in providing support to the regional direction for the legal team and be part of the legal leadership team for the region.


Ideally you will be based in one of the countries of the cluster and will have qualified from one of those countries as well. This is a complex group of countries and so will require someone who has the stakeholder capabilities and the geographical understanding.


So, who are we looking for?


Key skills and experience include:


  • Law Degree from an accredited university and qualification to practice law from a recognised legal regulatory body from either Turkey, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Slovakia or Cyprus.
  • Minimum 10 years post qualification experience in an internationally recognised law firm and/ or multinational company.
  • Knowledge of cross-border corporate and commercial transactions, and experience of managing transactions through to completion. 
  •  Ideally, knowledge and experience of international infrastructure projects.
  • Experience of working within logistics, maritime or ports and terminals would be useful.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of business needs (including awareness and sensitivity to differing international legal and cultural business practices, and the flexibility to work within different cultural environments).
  • Senior leadership/management experience with significant C-suite interaction
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to juggle conflicting viewpoints achieving optimum results.
