Job Description


The Advisor II, Collections position interfaces with customers via inbound and/or outbound calls for the purpose of collecting funds on post-charge off accounts. This position performs duties to recover the delinquent funds owed to client and takes action to move accounts towards balance in full by directing customers through the appropriate means to resolve the debt.Essential Functions/Core Responsibilities 
  • Initiate outbound calls to customers with post charge-off accounts
  • Contact third parties, as necessary to identify sources of customer income or assets. Initiate contact with customer's creditors, financial institutions, neighbors, relatives, etc. for the purposes of verifying information relevant to the customer's account and ability to pay
  • Apply skip tracing techniques to locate debtors by means of the internet
  • Make recommendations for accounts to be closed and returned or referred for legal action
  • Collect payments on delinquent accounts to recover funds and contribute to Client performance
  • Achieve monthly moving goal / target
  • Maintain documentation and accurate records to contribute to regulatory compliance and department efficiency
  • Apply concepts and organize work; agent must manage pending inventory and cases to ensure compliance time-frame are met
  • Courteous, with strong customer service orientation
  • Posses good verbal and written communication skills
  • Collect balance in full or total minimum due; follow up on broken promise of payment and perform all duties in compliance with Client and Company work standards and policies
  • Based on location and/or program, additional experience/skills may be required
Candidate Profile 
  • High school diploma with one year of relevant experience preferred
  • One year financial services or collections background preferred
  • Preferred knowledge of state and federal regulations governing debt collection
  • Ability to apply judgment to collection decisions
  • Moderately complex math skills required, including the use of percentages as well as the ability to calculate finance charges
  • Ability to apply concepts and organize work; agent must manage pending inventory and cases to ensure compliance time-frame are met
  • Courteous, with strong customer service orientation
  • Must posses good verbal and written communication skills

Has program required basic skill set to perform routine tasks within simple processes but lacking program/product specific knowledge.  Works with close supervision and clearly defined procedures.  Starting to demonstrate familiarity with client terminology, operating standards and procedures.  Starter without sustained metric performance levels.

• Minimum of two years of college education. No prior call center experience is required


• Ability to think clearly and can explain simple issues effectively, both written and verbally

• Clarify customer requirements; probe for and confirm understanding of requirements or problem
