About the role
The Front Desk Manager oversees the day to day operation of the Front Desk Reception of the Hotel ensuring a seamless registration and cashiering service for our guests. The Reception Manager assures that staff are highly trained, motivated and supervised, and follows up on guest requests and problems. This position controls room rate availability on full-house nights to maximize occupancy and revenue and protect guaranteed reservations.


What you will do


  • Coordinate arrivals, departures and billing requirements. Review daily arrivals to ensure guests’ recognition and minimize discrepancies.
  • Maximize hotel revenue by controlling room inventory, group blocking, packages, up selling to higher Room Categories...
  • Provide guests’ recognition, anticipate their needs whenever possible and resolve customer any complaints with the outmost professionalism.
  • Inspect and ensure proper maintenance of public areas and communicate any issue to the appropriate department.
  • Train, recruit, evaluate, lead, motivate, coach, and discipline all front desk employees in ensuring that established cultural and core standards are met; daily activities and planning for department operation and staff scheduling.
  • Take action in all matters related to the safety, security, satisfaction and well-being of hotel guests and employees. Respond swiftly and effectively in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and review of the policies, procedures, practices and standards.
  • Support with any other tasks within the division and/or any tasks assigned to by the Front Office Manager or Planning Committee


What you bring


Education:


Academic education preferably in Hospitality Management or equivalent experience.


Experience:


Must have a minimum of five years hotel Rooms Division experience, including at least three years in an Assistant Department Head position.


Skills and Abilities:


  • Must possess excellent personal presentation and interpersonal skills, an outgoing personality and a can-do approach to any request.
  • Strong problem solving and supervisory leadership skills are expected.
  • Strong supervisory and managerial skills are essential, with outstanding demonstrated coaching and development skills.
  • Proficiency in Hotel property management systems (Opera PMS) is required.
  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the French and English language. A third language is a plus.
