Role Purpose


  • The requested position seeks an expert in vertical transportation in several fields which includes , motion studies to be executed with the design partner and with elevator suppliers
  • Being able to support the design vs. budget and schedule
  • Plan construction schedules with the elevator partner and find solutions and standard procedures to allow a safe and economical transition from design, via design review approvals into a prefabrication , assembly and on site installation

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES



Key Responsibilities



Responsibilities:
• Oversee the vertical transportation package, including lifts and elevators
• Coordinate with elevator manufacturers and installation teams
• Ensure compliance with specific elevator and lift safety codes
• Manage the integration of vertical transportation systems with building design
Vertical Transportation Management:
• Develop and review vertical transportation specifications and drawings
• Coordinate elevator pit and shaft construction with structural engineers
• Oversee installation of elevator guide rails, cars, and mechanical systems
• Manage testing and commissioning of lifts and elevators
• Ensure proper integration of elevator control systems with building management systems
• Coordinate with fire safety teams for elevator emergency operations
• Oversee maintenance and service contracts for installed elevator systems
Design Development:
• Develop detailed elevator specifications, including car sizes, door types, and finishes
• Coordinate with structural engineers on shaft design and support requirements
• Work with electrical engineers to ensure proper power supply and distribution
• Integrate elevator design with building's fire safety and emergency systems
Sustainability and Energy Efficiency:
• Recommend energy-efficient elevator technologies (e.g., regenerative drives)
• Advise on sustainable materials for elevator car interiors
• Propose smart elevator management systems to optimize energy use
Accessibility and Universal Design:
• Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., ADA requirements)
• Recommend features for users with visual, auditory, or mobility impairments
• Advise on the integration of escalators or moving walks where appropriate
Innovation and Technology Integration:
• Stay informed about emerging elevator technologies and assess their applicability
• Evaluate and recommend advanced systems like destination dispatch or twin elevators
• Advise on the integration of elevator systems with building automation and IoT platforms
Cost Estimation and Value Engineering:
• Develop detailed cost estimates for vertical transportation systems
• Identify potential areas for cost savings without compromising performance or safety
• Conduct life-cycle cost analyses to inform long-term decision-making
Design Review and Quality Assurance:
• Conduct regular design reviews to ensure compliance with project requirements
• Coordinate with quality assurance teams to develop inspection and testing protocols
• Review and approve shop drawings and technical submittals from elevator manufacturers



BACKGROUND, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS



Knowledge, Skills and Experience


Essential Criteria
• Specialized knowledge of vertical transportation systems and technologies
• Familiarity with elevator codes and standards (e.g., ASME A17.1/CSA B44)
• Experience in managing complex elevator installation projects
• Understanding of elevator traffic analysis and selection criteria


Preferred Qualifications:
• Certification in elevator systems or vertical transportation management
• Experience with various elevator types (e.g., traction, hydraulic, machine-room-less)
• Knowledge of advanced elevator technologies (destination dispatch, regenerative drives



Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience and proven track record in Vertical Transportation with partners, with 8 years in a management role, preferably in the Middle East.
  • Excellent communication skills, with high standard of English (oral and written).
