Job Description

Job Overview:

The Technical Design Manager will oversee the technical aspects of the design process. The role involves leading a team of designers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring high-quality design execution, and managing technical aspects of the design lifecycle from concept through production. This role requires a strong understanding of design principles, technical proficiency, and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:


Lead Technical Design Efforts


Direct and manage the technical design process. Collaborate with product development, engineering, and production teams to ensure designs are technically feasible. Translate business and product requirements into technical design specifications.


Team Management


Manage, mentor, and develop a team of designers and engineers. Provide guidance and feedback to ensure adherence to technical design standards and best practices. Foster a collaborative environment with product managers, engineers, and other key stakeholders to achieve design objectives.


Quality Control:


Review and evaluate designs to ensure they meet technical requirements, quality standards, and regulations. Ensure that designs align with industry standards and company policies. Implement processes for ongoing design improvements and cost optimization.


Project Management:


Manage timelines, resources, and deliverables for multiple design projects. Track project progress and resolve issues or roadblocks to ensure successful completion. Conduct design reviews and provide feedback at various stages of the design process.


Process Improvement & Innovation:


Continuously analyze and improve technical design processes to enhance productivity and design quality. Identify new technologies, tools, and methodologies to optimize design execution and innovation.


Documentation & Reporting:


Prepare and maintain detailed documentation on technical specifications, designs, and changes. Provide regular status updates to senior management and stakeholders on project progress, issues, and results.



Requirements
  • Education:

Bachelor’s degree in [Engineering, Design, Product Development, Fashion Design, or related field].


A Master’s degree or relevant certification may be preferred.


  • Experience:

10+ years of experience in technical design and product development


Experience in managing design teams and large-scale design projects.


Proven track record of bringing products from concept to production.


  • Skills & Competencies:

Proficient in design software AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Adobe Creative Suite.


Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.


Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.


Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.


Additional Desired Skills (Optional):


Experience Agile, CAD, 3D modeling


Knowledge of Sustainable design practices, new manufacturing technologies
