Operations & Maintenance, Facility Management.
Team Supervision and Coordination:
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and lead a team of mechanical technicians or engineers, assigning tasks, providing training, and ensuring a high level of performance.
- Ensure that team members are working efficiently, meeting deadlines, and following safety and quality protocols.
- Motivate, mentor, and support staff to foster a positive work environment.
- Task Allocation:
- Assign mechanical maintenance and repair tasks to technicians based on skills, expertise, and project priorities.
- Ensure that each task is well-defined, monitored, and completed within the required time frame.
Mechanical Maintenance and Repairs:
- Preventive Maintenance:
- Oversee the planning and execution of preventive maintenance programs to ensure machinery and equipment are in optimal working condition.
- Schedule and supervise routine inspections and maintenance for mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, HVAC systems, piping, and heavy machinery.
- Ensure that all mechanical components are regularly lubricated, calibrated, and cleaned.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs:
- Supervise and assist with diagnosing mechanical failures and system malfunctions.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts and provide solutions to resolve mechanical breakdowns quickly and effectively.
- Coordinate repair efforts to ensure minimal downtime and avoid production disruptions.
Safety and Compliance:
- Safety Adherence:
- Enforce and promote adherence to workplace safety policies, ensuring that all mechanical work is performed safely and in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Ensure the team follows all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), tools, and machinery.
- Identify and address potential safety hazards related to mechanical work and equipment.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that all mechanical systems and processes comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety codes, environmental standards, and quality control.
- Ensure that any required permits or certifications for mechanical operations are obtained and maintained.
Project Management and Planning:
- Project Coordination:
- Assist in the planning and coordination of mechanical projects, including equipment installation, upgrades, and large-scale repairs.
- Ensure that mechanical work is completed on time and within budget while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Communicate with other departments (e.g., electrical, construction, operations) to ensure the timely execution of projects and resolve any cross-functional issues.
- Resource Management:
- Oversee the allocation and proper use of resources, such as mechanical parts, tools, and equipment.
- Ensure that required materials and spare parts are available in a timely manner, managing inventory levels and ordering supplies as needed.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of all mechanical maintenance, repairs, and inspections, including any work completed, parts used, and hours spent.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and downtime for review by management.
- Performance Monitoring:
- Monitor and track the performance of mechanical systems, identifying any areas of improvement or recurring issues.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of maintenance programs and provide recommendations for improvements.
Continuous Improvement:
- Process Improvement:
- Recommend and implement improvements to mechanical systems and maintenance processes to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and minimize costs.
- Identify and implement new technologies or methods that improve mechanical operations.
- Training and Development:
- Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for mechanical team members to improve skills and ensure they stay current with industry standards and best practices.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to staff to promote professional growth and accountability.
Skills
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- Diploma in Mechanical with 5+ Experience
- Proven experience with mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment maintenance in industrial, manufacturing, or similar environments.
Skills:
- Leadership: Ability to manage and lead a team of technicians, providing clear direction and guidance.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
- Project Management: Ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee mechanical projects, ensuring timely and effective execution.
- Safety Consciousness: Strong understanding of safety protocols and the ability to enforce them effectively within the team.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, other departments, and management.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in mechanical maintenance software and tools (e.g., CMMS, CAD).
- Familiarity with mechanical systems such as HVAC, pumps, motors, compressors, piping systems, and machine tools.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices, hydraulics, pneumatics, and other mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with ISO and quality standards relevant to mechanical work (e.g., ISO 9001).
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, with typical working hours of 40 hours per week.
- May require working shifts, weekends, or extended hours during project deadlines or equipment breakdowns.
- Will be required to work in industrial or construction environments, which may include exposure to heavy machinery, noisy environments, and harsh weather conditions.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, helmets, gloves, and eye protection may be required on the job.
