Job Description
Key Role: The Structural Engineer will be responsible for
the structural design, analysis, and execution of a high-profile museum project
in Mecca. The role involves ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and
durability of the museum while integrating the architectural vision and
functional requirements. The Structural Engineer will work closely with
architects, contractors, and project managers to deliver a structurally sound
and aesthetically aligned facility.
Responsibilities
Structural Design and Analysis- Develop structural designs for the museum, ensuring
stability, strength, and compliance with local building codes and international
standards.
- Conduct detailed structural analysis of building materials
(steel, concrete, timber, etc.) and systems to determine feasibility and
safety.
- Provide innovative solutions to accommodate unique
architectural elements and museum-specific requirements, such as large open
spaces for exhibits.
Collaboration and Integration- Work closely with architects, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical,
Plumbing) engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of
structural systems with other building components.
- Coordinate with museum specialists to address specific
requirements such as vibration control, load-bearing considerations, and
artifact protection.
- Ensure structural elements complement the architectural
design while maintaining functionality and cost-efficiency.
Construction Support
- Oversee the execution of structural works on-site to ensure
adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and
construction methodologies.
- Resolve any structural issues that arise during
construction, maintaining alignment with project timelines and budgets.
Compliance and Quality Assurance- Ensure designs and construction comply with relevant codes,
regulations, and standards, including seismic and environmental considerations
specific to the region.
- Perform regular inspections and audits to ensure the quality
and safety of structural components.
- Prepare structural reports and documentation for project
stakeholders.
Sustainability and Innovation- Incorporate sustainable engineering practices to reduce
environmental impact and optimize energy efficiency.
- Research and implement advanced materials and technologies
to enhance structural performance.
Recommended Technical Skills- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such
as ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, and SAFE.
- Advanced knowledge of building materials, construction
methods, and structural systems.
- Expertise in seismic design and vibration control for
sensitive structures like museums.
- Strong understanding of regional building codes,
international standards, and best practices for structural engineering.
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) tools
such as Revit for multidisciplinary coordination.
Recommended Soft Skills- Problem-Solving: Ability to develop creative and practical
solutions for complex structural challenges.
- Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills to work effectively
with architects, engineers, and contractors.
- Communication: Clear and concise communication skills to

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Minimum Experience- At least 10 years of experience in structural engineering,
preferably with experience in design and build projects or culturally
significant structures.
