Staff Nurse for Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• 3 years of experience in the same Field in Bone Marrow transplantation unit.
• Dataflow is a must.
• Saudi license holder is a plus.
• Fluent in English.

Job description and responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional well-being before, during, and after the transplant procedure.
• Monitor vital signs, lab results, and other indicators of patient health.
• Identify and address potential complications, such as infections, graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), and bleeding.
• Educate patients and their families about the transplant process, including risks, benefits, and potential side effects.
• Assist with pre-transplant procedures, such as bone marrow biopsies and stem cell collection.
• Coordinate necessary testing and appointments.
• Provide direct patient care during the transplant procedure, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and managing complications.
• Coordinate care with other healthcare providers involved in the transplant process.
• Monitor patients for signs of recovery and complications.
• Manage symptoms and side effects of the transplant procedure.
• Educate patients about self-care and long-term follow-up.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the care provided to BMT patients.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of new protocols and guidelines.
• Acting as a point of contact for patients undergoing stem cell transplantation & their relatives.
• To support patients in the delivery of care through maintaining the patient’s information needs.
• Promoting their wishes and beliefs and addressing their concerns.
• Scheduling patients into the transplant clinic at the appropriate time.
• Requesting harvest slots and completing the appropriate documentation for stem cell collection
• Liaising with the stem cell apheresis team and the stem cell lab regarding stem cell harvesting.
• To be proficient or gain proficiency in the thawing and administration of stem cells and all other aspects of stem cell transplantation as required.
• Reviewing BMT patients on the ward during their admission and prior to discharge.
• Reviewing BMT patients post discharge and liaising with the day unit.
• Reviewing BMT patients in clinic post discharge.
