Job Summary: As a Senior Quality Control Engineer specializing in Marine operations, you will lead the charge in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety for our maritime projects. Your expertise and attention to detail will be instrumental in upholding regulatory compliance, optimizing processes, and delivering exceptional results in the marine industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance Leadership:
- Lead and oversee quality control activities across marine projects, setting benchmarks for excellence in product and service quality.
- Develop and implement robust quality control procedures and protocols specific to marine engineering and construction.
- Inspection and Testing Mastery:
- Conduct comprehensive inspections and rigorous testing of marine structures, systems, and components to ensure compliance with technical specifications and regulatory standards.
- Utilize advanced testing methods and equipment, including non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques, to detect defects and ensure structural integrity.
- Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure adherence to maritime regulations, classification society requirements, and international standards related to marine construction and operations.
- Implement safety protocols and best practices to mitigate risks and promote a safe working environment onboard vessels and at marine facilities.
- Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement:
- Investigate quality issues and deviations through root cause analysis, implementing corrective and preventive actions to enhance process efficiency and mitigate risks.
- Collaborate closely with marine engineers, naval architects, and project teams to optimize construction methodologies and improve project outcomes.
- Documentation and Reporting Expertise:
- Maintain accurate records of quality control activities, inspection results, and corrective actions taken during marine projects.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on quality metrics, trends, and improvement initiatives for stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Supplier and Contractor Coordination:
- Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and third-party inspectors to ensure quality standards are met throughout the supply chain and project lifecycle.
- Conduct supplier audits and performance evaluations to foster continuous improvement and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Training and Development Leadership:
- Provide mentorship and training to junior quality control staff and project teams, promoting a culture of quality awareness and professional growth within the marine engineering sector.
- Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes affecting marine quality control practices.
Skills
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., CMQ/OE, CQE) may be advantageous.
- Extensive experience in quality control and assurance within the marine industry, including shipbuilding, offshore construction, or maritime infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of marine engineering principles, materials science, and construction methodologies.
- Proficiency in quality control tools and methodologies, such as ISO standards, statistical analysis, and quality management systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
