Job Summary: As a Senior Casting Quality Control Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability in our casting processes. Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance Leadership:
- Lead and oversee quality control activities for casting operations, setting the benchmark for excellence in product quality.
- Develop and implement robust quality control procedures and protocols to ensure compliance with technical specifications and industry standards.
- Inspection and Testing Mastery:
- Conduct thorough inspections and rigorous testing of castings to verify dimensional accuracy, mechanical properties, and material integrity.
- Utilize advanced testing methods and equipment, such as non-destructive testing (NDT), to detect defects and ensure product reliability.
- Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement:
- Investigate quality issues and deviations through root cause analysis, implementing corrective and preventive actions to enhance process efficiency and product quality.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to optimize casting processes and reduce variability.
- Documentation and Reporting Expertise:
- Maintain detailed records of quality control activities, inspection results, and corrective actions taken during the casting process.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on quality metrics, trends, and improvement initiatives for management review.
- Supplier and Customer Collaboration:
- Partner with suppliers to ensure incoming materials meet quality specifications and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns related to casting quality, providing technical expertise and timely resolution of issues.
- Training and Development Leadership:
- Provide mentorship and training to junior quality control staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements in casting technology, and regulatory requirements to maintain competitive advantage.
Skills
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field. Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., ASQ, Six Sigma) preferred.
- Extensive experience in casting quality control, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of casting processes, metallurgy, and quality assurance principles.
- Proficiency in quality control tools and methodologies, including statistical process control (SPC) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Leadership qualities with a demonstrated ability to drive change and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proven track record of implementing quality improvements and achieving measurable results in casting operations.
