Job Description
Key Role: The
Specialist in Warehouses and Laboratories will manage the planning,
organization, and operation of specialized storage facilities and laboratories
for the museum project in Mecca. This role is essential to ensure the proper
handling, preservation, and documentation of artifacts and museum collections.
The Specialist will oversee the safe storage, environmental conditions, and
logistical workflows while coordinating with conservation, curatorial, and
operational teams to maintain the integrity and accessibility of the museum's
collections.
Responsibilities
Warehouse
Management- Plan,
organize, and maintain specialized storage facilities for artifacts, ensuring
proper environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, lighting, etc.).
- Implement
systems for cataloging, inventory, and tracking museum objects in storage.
- Ensure
storage areas comply with international museum standards for safety and
preservation.
Laboratory
Oversight- Supervise
laboratory operations related to artifact conservation, analysis, and
restoration.
- Coordinate
with conservators, scientists, and curators to prioritize and support
laboratory work.
- Ensure all
equipment and materials in the laboratory are maintained and meet safety
standards.
Logistics
and Transportation- Oversee the
packing, transportation, and installation of museum objects, ensuring their
safety during transit.
- Develop and
enforce protocols for handling fragile and sensitive materials.
- Collaborate
with logistics teams to manage shipping schedules and customs requirements.
Preservation
and Risk Management- Monitor and
maintain environmental controls in storage and laboratory spaces to mitigate
risks such as mold, pests, and physical damage.
- Develop and
implement disaster preparedness plans for collections in storage.
- Conduct
regular condition checks and provide reports on the state of stored artifacts.
Documentation
and Reporting- Maintain
detailed records of artifacts, including condition reports, conservation
history, and storage locations.
- Prepare
reports on warehouse and laboratory operations for project stakeholders.
Collaboration
and Training- Work
closely with curators, conservators, and project managers to align storage and
laboratory activities with the museum’s goals.
- Train staff
in proper handling, storage, and preservation techniques for museum objects.

conservation operations.
