ROLE OVERVIEW
Working for the Facilities Management (FM) department of THE LINE, the Specialist Facilities Management Design review for Electrical systems shall report directly to the FM Design Director. They should possess experience in Electrical systems (Power, Light, lightning protection and earthing, Low voltage systems) to review designs from facility management (operability and maintainability) perspectives, covering all stages of all design packages.
They will collaborate across all levels and departments to provide design review expertise, operational readiness, and project management support, managing design review packages and process, responsible for contract management of external consultants and able to prepare FM requirements, scope of works and requests for proposals (RFP).
REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY
- Experience in design review for electrical systems from an FM perspective.
- Have extensive experience in Power distribution systems, UPS and backups lighting, lighting and control, Lightning protection systems, Low voltage systems and building services in general.
- Heavily engaged in the operational and maintenance aspects of the above Electrical systems and understanding concepts of operations.
- In-depth understanding of FM requirements as they relate to design.
- Strong leadership ability, rational judgement and reasoning skills, with proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- A team player, with team management capabilities to effectively manage and set up goals and objectives for personnel development.
- Ability to build and sustain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to lead and influence others to achieve desired outcomes.
ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES
Specialist FM Design for Electrical systems responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
FM design reviews:
- Lead the Design review team/consultants to conduct comprehensive FM reviews of all design packages throughout design stages.
- Conduct design reviews addressing FM aspects like accessibility, operability, maintainability and availability
- Proactively work with master planners and designers to identify and address FM design issues, facilitating efficient implementation and operational readiness.
- Provide technical expertise on Electrical systems
FM operational readiness:
- Assume a hands-on role in operational readiness, actively working with the FM Operations team to ensure designs incorporate operational efficiency and future maintenance requirements.
- To support the transition from design-centric tasks to operational tasks as necessary.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all Electrical systems comply with relevant regulations and standards (BS, IEC, NEC, IBC, NFPA & Saudi Building Code)
- Conduct Safety in design during the review.
- Identify fire and life safety risks within the design solutions.
Reporting and Design management
- Prepare regular reports and presentations on the status of the design submissions and solutions
- Ensure strict adherence to delivery schedules and develop contingency recovery schedules, as and when required, demonstrating a capacity for proactive problem-solving and efficient project management.
- Actively contribute to the larger team and company goals, seeking opportunities to support and drive initiatives beyond the immediate remit of the design review process.
Leadership
- Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and other communication materials tailored to stakeholder’s needs.
- Manage design packages and consultants.
- Analyse input from external stakeholders and manage their performance and quality of work.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 15 years of total experience.
- 10+ years of extensive experience in delivering multi-disciplinary projects (residential, commercial, industrial, sports, marine etc.).
