TROJENA (The Mountains of NEOM) will be an iconic, world-class destination, blending natural and developed landscapes and will offer unique experiences for residents and visitors alike. Located in the northwest of Saudi Arabia in the region of Tabuk just 50km from the coast, TROJENA will be a destination like no other on earth. Based upon the principles of eco-tourism facilities will include a folded vertical village, a lake with water sports and event facilities, high altitude ski village, observatory, world leading health and wellbeing facilities and a nature reserve which will be home to unique wildlife, heritage sites and exploration opportunities.

In this role, you will integrate environmental requirements into large-scale project planning documents, permit applications, design criteria, construction plans, schedules, and subcontract documents. You will provide input on bid decisions, identify new approaches, conduct inspections, and participate in emergency response. Your work will help reduce adverse environmental impacts of Bechtel projects. #LI-AR2
 

• Act as the client’s technical expert on all matters related to tunnelling and blasting.
• Monitor and review the contractor’s tunneling and blasting methodologies, including risk assessments, method statements, and blasting plans.
• Assure all works are planned and executed in full compliance with BS 6164 and relevant national regulations.
• Support the development and implementation of project-specific health and safety strategies for underground works.
• Provide expert input during the review of design documentation and construction methodologies.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to assess compliance, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions.
• Liaise closely with contractor teams, design consultants, and regulatory bodies on tunneling and blasting issues.
• Lead or support incident investigations related to tunneling or blasting activities.
• Advise the project team on best practices, innovations, and emerging risks in underground construction.
   

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to tunneling and blasting operations health and safety, minimum 20 years of relevant experience preferably in construction including H&S oversight.
   

• Extensive auditing and inspection experience
• Deep knowledge in construction ESH
• Desired to have a recognized ES&H certification i.e., OSHA, NEBOSH
• Good communication skills
• Familiarity with tunneling methods such as TBM, NATM, drill and blast, and cut-and-cover
• Experience in MS Office programs
• Construction ES&H knowledge in major projects
• Comprehensive knowledgeable of BS 6164:2019 and its application in tunneling projects.
• Eager to mentor others and pursue their development
