Job Description
Overview: As a Shipyard Services Manager, you will oversee the operations and services provided within the shipyard facility. Your role involves managing various aspects of shipyard operations, including vessel repair and maintenance, dockyard services, and project management. You will collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. Additionally, you will be responsible for implementing quality control measures, promoting a culture of safety, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management:
- Oversee all shipyard projects, including vessel repair, retrofitting, and maintenance, from initiation to completion.
- Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and ensure adherence to project timelines and cost estimates.
- Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to allocate resources, manage project risks, and resolve issues.
- Vessel Repair and Maintenance:
- Manage the repair and maintenance of vessels, including dry docking, hull repairs, propulsion system upgrades, and equipment installations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, classification society rules, and industry standards for vessel maintenance and repair activities.
- Dockyard Operations:
- Oversee dockyard operations, including vessel berthing, docking, and undocking procedures.
- Coordinate with port authorities, pilots, and tugboat operators to ensure safe and efficient vessel movements within the shipyard facility.
- Quality Assurance and Safety:
- Implement quality control measures to ensure workmanship meets industry standards and client expectations.
- Promote a culture of safety among shipyard staff and subcontractors, and enforce adherence to safety policies and procedures.
- Resource Management:
- Manage shipyard resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, to support project requirements and optimize operational efficiency.
- Monitor resource utilization, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement measures to minimize costs and maximize productivity.
- Client Relations:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project progress, addressing client inquiries and concerns, and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Collaborate with clients to identify their needs, develop project proposals, and tailor services to meet their requirements.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance shipyard operations, streamline processes, and increase productivity.
- Solicit feedback from employees and stakeholders, and implement best practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
