Position Overview
Senior System Administrator responsibilities include supervising our Operations team, monitoring system performance and configuring new software and hardware. To be successful in this role, He/she should have excellent troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience with various operating systems.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining the reliable operation of physical and virtual computer systems, network servers and virtualization in both premise and cloud while adhering to network and system security standards.
- Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
- Analyze and isolate hardware and software issues/errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing the impact of issues.
- Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure.
- Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
- Monitor system servers and networks to ensure security, stability, and availability to applications and services.
- Evaluate and modify the system's performance and resource utilization.
- Maintain the integrity of the network, server deployment, and security while ensuring network connectivity throughout the LAN/WAN infrastructure.
- Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services.
- Administer, manage and maintain the virtual infrastructure VMware vSphere Hosts and Clusters, VMs, Data stores, Distributed Switches, Networks and vCenters.
- Administer, manage, install, configure and maintain Windows servers and services for physical and virtual servers including standalone, domain members, domain controllers, DNS, FTP and Failover Cluster servers.
- Administer and manage Active Directory domain services, DC Roles and replication, FSMO Roles and domain group policies.
- Administer, configure and support various systems and services including CA PAM, TrendMicro, and GFI LanGuard Windows patching system.
- Administer, manage and maintain HPE Oneview, Synergy frames, Enclosures, Blades, Server profiles and Networks.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot software and hardware incidents and technical issues.
- Write and maintain documentation of critical systems and devices.
- Monitor and optimize systems performance and perform systems upgrades.
- Perform research on system technology and provide resolution to complex issues for processes.
- Ensure high-level security for systems by applying the company security policies and standards.
- Support the team and interact with the help desk and other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed.
- Perform routine/scheduled audits of the systems, including all backups
- Collaborate with networking department and install necessary hardware to systems.
- Responsible for production support activities for facilities operations to ensure the security and stability of the environment
- Monitor all system alerts and assist to resolve complex issues in system hardware and software.
- Administer efficient work of servers and system and provide support to everyday operations.
- Involves technical understanding of architecture and environments supported
- Track points of friction for users, technology or operations, use analytics and then work with other teams to make those parts of operations better.
- Participating in system design improvements and performance enhancements
- Participate in Business Continuity Planning and Exercises as needed
- Assist the Database Administrator and Network Administrator in developing and implementing plans for new enterprise applications
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with operating system software and third party applications in production and non-production environments
- Perform day-to-day operations and maintenance tasks to ensure non-production and production environments remain fully functional
- Document and participate in disaster recovery planning and execution, system monitoring, quality control and change management processes to ensure stable and reliable systems
- Ability to work equally well as an individual contributor or a team member
