Job Description
AECOM's Civil Infrastructure practice are currently seeking Project Managers with experience in desalination projects. The successful candidate will oversee the planning and initiation of the project, including, scope definition, feasibility studies, and environmental assessments.
Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive project management plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure project requirements are clearly understood and incorporated into the design.
- Oversee all aspects of project execution, from engineering design to construction and commissioning.
- Monitor project progress and performance against established milestones and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), ensuring compliance with timelines and budgets.
- Conduct regular site visits to oversee construction activities, ensure adherence to design specifications, and resolve technical or operational issues that may arise.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant safety, health, and environmental standards.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the client, contractors, regulatory bodies, and other key stakeholders.
- Facilitate communication among all project stakeholders to align objectives, report progress, and address any issues or concerns.
- Provide regular updates to senior management and clients through reports and presentations on project status, risks, and financial performance.
- Develop and manage the project budget, tracking expenditures, and ensuring that the project remains within financial limits.
- Prepare cost forecasts, cash flow analyses, and financial reports for senior management and stakeholders.
- Manage project risks proactively, including technical, environmental, regulatory, and financial risks.
- Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure all engineering designs, equipment, and construction meet the required standards.
- Ensure desalination plants meet performance targets, including water quality, production capacity, and energy efficiency.
- Ensure the project complies with all relevant environmental regulations and permits, including water intake and brine discharge management.
- Prepare final project documentation, including operational manuals, technical reports, and as-built drawings.
- Facilitate the successful transition of the project to the client or operations team, ensuring a smooth handover.
- Foster collaboration and communication within the project team to drive performance and meet project objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or a PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is an advantage.
- 15 years of experience in managing large-scale infrastructure design projects, with at least 5 years in desalination or water treatment projects.
- Knowledge of desalination technologies such as reverse osmosis (RO), multi-stage flash (MSF), or multi-effect distillation (MED).
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
