Role Purpose
- The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will oversee and manage all geotechnical aspects of complex construction projects, ensuring successful project execution from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, strong project management skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams to deliver outstanding results.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES
Key Accountabilities & Activities
- Manage geotechnical investigations, analyses, and designs for complex construction projects.
- Review and interpret geotechnical site assessments, including soil and rock sampling, laboratory testing, and in-situ testing.
- Review geotechnical analysis and design for foundations, retaining structures, slopes, and earthworks.
- Review geotechnical reports, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to project teams.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, and environmental engineers, to integrate geotechnical solutions into overall project designs.
- Ensure all geotechnical work adheres to relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to uphold high standards of work.
- Stay current with advancements in geotechnical engineering and apply new knowledge to improve project outcomes.
- Participate in project meetings, site visits, and inspections to provide on-site geotechnical support and address any issues that arise.
BACKGROUND, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong focus on complex construction projects.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering geotechnical components of large-scale projects.
- In-depth knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, practices, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software and tools (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, gINT).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
