Job Description

The Senior Resource Geologist is responsible for supporting the development of geological models, mineral resource estimations, and technical reporting for Ma’aden’s Mineral Resource Management Team. The role ensures the integration of geological data, provides technical support to site-based teams, and contributes to strategic planning to optimize resource evaluation processes. This position plays a key role in Ma’aden’s mineral resource estimation capability and ensuring compliance with international reporting standards such as JORC.


Operational / Functional Responsibilities:


  • Develop, manage, and interpret geological databases to support mineral resource modeling and estimation.
  • Build 3D geological models using specialized software (e.g., Leapfrog, Isatis, Surpac, Datamine).
  • Perform mineral resource estimations using geostatistical methods (e.g., kriging, IDW).
  • Prepare and review technical reports, including resource statements in compliance with international reporting codes (JORC/NI 43-101).
  • Provide geological and technical support to mine planning, grade control, and exploration teams.
  • Design and oversee resource drilling programs to improve resource confidence.
  • Implement best practices for data collection, validation, and QA/QC procedures.
  • Support geological due diligence and audits as required.

Strategic and Project Support:


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (exploration, mine planning, metallurgy) to optimize resource development strategies.
  • Participate in resource and reserve reviews, audits, and validation processes.
  • Contribute to long-term resource development strategies to support Ma’aden’s growth objectives.
  • Ensure all resource estimation activities comply with Ma’aden’s internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify resource estimation risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Promote health, safety, and environmental (HSE) best practices within all geological activities.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies 


Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or Earth Sciences (Master’s degree preferred).


Professional registration or eligibility to register with a recognized geological association (e.g., P.Geo, AusIMM) is advantageous.


Minimum Experience:


Minimum of 6-8 years of progressive experience in mineral resource estimation, with at least 4 years in a mining or exploration environment.


Demonstrated experience in geological modeling, resource estimation, and technical reporting for gold or base metal deposits


Skills:


Advanced proficiency in geological modeling and resource estimation software (e.g., Leapfrog, Surpac, Datamine, Snowden Supervisor).


Strong understanding of geostatistics and resource estimation methodologies.


Experience in drill hole data management, QA/QC processes, and resource classification.


Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.


Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.


Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.


Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
