Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Management:
  • Project Planning: Lead and manage environmental engineering projects, including planning, design, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources and adherence to financial constraints.
  • Timeline Management: Develop project timelines and ensure that milestones and deadlines are met.
  1. Regulatory Compliance:
  • Regulation Adherence: Ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and standards, including federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Permitting: Oversee the preparation and submission of environmental permits and ensure adherence to permit conditions.
  1. Environmental Impact Assessment:
  • Assessment: Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and risk assessments to identify potential environmental risks and impacts.
  • Mitigation Strategies: Develop and implement strategies to mitigate environmental impacts and enhance sustainability.
  1. Technical Expertise:
  • Design and Implementation: Design and oversee the implementation of environmental control systems, including air, water, and soil pollution control measures.
  • Monitoring: Develop and implement monitoring programs to assess environmental performance and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  1. Team Leadership:
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of environmental engineers and technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Collaboration: Foster a collaborative work environment and coordinate with other departments to achieve project goals and address environmental issues.
  1. Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Communication: Communicate with stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, community groups, and internal departments, to address environmental concerns and project updates.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present reports on environmental performance, project progress, and compliance to senior management and external stakeholders.
  1. Sustainability Initiatives:
  • Sustainable Practices: Develop and promote sustainable practices and initiatives within the organization to reduce environmental impact.
  • Innovation: Identify and implement innovative technologies and practices to enhance environmental performance and efficiency.
  1. Problem-Solving:
  • Issue Resolution: Address and resolve complex environmental engineering issues and challenges, including troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance environmental management.


Skills

Technical Expertise:

  • Engineering Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of environmental engineering principles, practices, and technologies.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with environmental regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.

Project Management:

  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and priorities.

Analytical Skills:

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address environmental challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to analyze environmental data and performance metrics to drive decision-making and improvements.

Communication:

  • Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with stakeholders, preparing reports, and presenting findings.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.

Educational Background:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s or PhD) are preferred.
  • Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Experience: Extensive experience in environmental engineering, with a proven track record of managing complex projects and leading teams.
