Job Summary:
The Senior Cost Controller is responsible for managing and controlling project costs, ensuring that expenditures are in line with the project budget. This role involves preparing cost reports, analyzing financial performance, and advising project managers and stakeholders on cost management strategies. The Cost Controller will work closely with the finance and project management teams to ensure accurate cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Budget Management: Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring alignment with company objectives and client expectations.
- Cost Tracking: Monitor and track project costs and expenditures, including materials, labor, and equipment.
- Variance Analysis: Analyze cost variances and report deviations from the approved budget, offering recommendations for corrective actions.
- Forecasting: Prepare regular cost forecasts, updating projections based on actual performance, risks, and project milestones.
- Reporting: Generate detailed cost reports for stakeholders, providing insights into financial status, trends, and potential risks.
- Cost Estimation: Collaborate with project teams to estimate costs for new projects, including reviewing bid proposals and contract terms.
- Vendor & Contract Management: Review and manage contracts with suppliers, ensuring compliance with cost terms and tracking payments.
- Compliance: Ensure all costs and expenditures comply with corporate policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
- Risk Management: Identify financial risks and suggest mitigation strategies to keep the project financially on track.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve cost control processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Cost Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Cost Controller or in a similar role
- Proficiency in cost control software and financial reporting tools (SAP / Oracle).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with project management software (e.g., Power BI, SAP, Oracle).
- Familiarity with cost control methodologies such as earned value management (EVM).
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
