Project Overview:

Bechtel has been involved over the last 80 years in some of the world’s busiest and most complex airport projects, including Greenfield and Brownfield developments. In the GCC, we have held significant roles on King Khalid, King Fahad, Dubai, Hamad, and Muscat international airports. As we consider the future of aviation globally and in the GCC, we are very enthusiastic about the future of aviation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.


We are currently considering candidates with aviation, other transportation or complex public accessible building project experience to provide project management consultancy services (including technical, commercial and construction management) for a major infrastructure project in Riyadh should it be awarded to Bechtel. This posting serves as an expression of interest only.




Job Summary:

In this role, you will plan, develop, design, coordinate, and review architectural work on large projects with unique requirements. You will prepare discipline estimates and work plans, review and approve design documents, interpret regulations, and assist with performance reporting. Your recommendations for resolving complex issues will help ensure client satisfaction with a project’s architectural aspects.




Major Responsibilities:
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the architectural work to support the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications​, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications​ 
  • Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions​ 
  • Participates in design reviews and recommends approval of design drawings and data prepared by others for compliance with requirements
  • Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirements​ 
  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders​ 
  • Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals​ 
  • Prepares letters to vendors and clients​ 
  • Plans, coordinates, or prepares equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations​ 
  • Coordinates architectural efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups​ 
  • Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations​ 
  • When delegated, provides guidance to other architectural personnel for specific tasks or project-subgroups​ 


Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience




Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience in customer-facing roles, presenting to customers, and working with authorities having jurisdiction
  • Advanced knowledge of architectural design, production techniques, building materials, specifications, building codes/standards, international codes/ standards, and construction methods. 
  • Experience with managing the coordination of design development with other functions which will include construction, estimating, project controls, procurement, and contracts management
  • Knowledge of current industry and regulatory standards and general design criteria pertinent to architectural work.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in balancing competing deadlines, priorities, and resource availability
  • Able to identify and articulate opportunities for procedural improvement, assess the scope of problems, provide solutions and carry out implementation.
  • Must have strong organizational, leadership and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, and the desire to innovate designs as well as architecture/ engineering work processes.
  • Proven ability to lead and work within a diverse multicultural environment.
