JOB PURPOSE BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force aircraft and train RSAF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The Support Chain Optimisation team provides tactical and strategic asset management, including the identification of key assets that will support performance improvement, with a focus on the aircraft availability KPMs. The teams’ tasks encompass Asset Optimisation, Workability and Critical Asset Management. The Support Optimisation Manager, based at KFdAB Taif, will establish, develop, lead and manage the team to ensure that all mitigations and efficiencies in the end-to-end product management process/lifecycle are optimised through a “Keep on Wing” strategy. The Support Optimisation Manager’s Team will identify and implement solutions and mitigations to reduce individual asset criticality, preserve and enhance aircraft availability. The impact of the role is felt across the entire Salam Project and its Supply Chain. The primary impact of decisions made within the role influence a number of internal and external organisations, nationally and internationally
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
o lead and effectively manage the Salam Support Optimisation Team to provide the necessary support to the RSAF fleet by ensuring that asset management is fully optimised to reduce criticality and preserve/increase aircraft availability. Identify and develop solutions and mitigations to reduce individual asset criticality and preserve availability where required. Provide the necessary team management activities including resourcing, planning & tasking, prioritising of activities and general management duties e.g. Mandatory Training, Performance Development Reviews etc. Ensure team adherence to local SHE plans, reporting on hazardous occurrences including accident /incident collation and reporting. Build and maintain a constructive and trusting relationship with all stakeholders including the RSAF Customer, MODSAP, PC teams and Typhoon core programme personnel, providing and discharging tactical and strategic integration and mitigation activities whilst maintaining internal and external stakeholder engagement and management. Provision of frequent reporting to support findings, status, achievements and performance indicators for the various levels of stakeholders. Provide support to all Taif Operational & Management reviews. Where required support on-going Engineering and Life Cycle Management activities including the definition of engineering change and capability insertion and promotion of Learning from Experience (LfE) to future contract negotiations.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Qualified to Degree level, or with equivalent, commensurate experience, including familiarity of a design and support engineering organisation within an aircraft related industry. Experience working in an availability contracting environment. Knowledge of the operation, maintenance and support of modern aircraft combat systems with their associated maintenance and records management systems. The jobholder will have considerable experience of managing and delivering complex programmes to time, cost and quality. Capable of managing a multi-skilled, multi-national team, integrating it into a virtual, multi[1] agency team, which may be geographically dispersed. Proficient in strategic thinking and able to communicate complex ideas and solutions across the management command chain. A seasoned knowledge of statistical, analytical and management presentation techniques. Experience of mentoring and coaching in order to build effective teams.
Knowledge and experience of the BAE Systems Operational Framework. Knowledge of the RSAF Regulatory Framework for Logistics or similar military governance framework.
