Job Summary:

Bechtel is seeking a Regional Employee Relations (ER) Specialist who will report to the Lead ER Partner-MEA. The position is responsible for managing the regional ER service-delivery model and will undertake workplace investigations, performance management, mediation, and employee relations consulting within the region, in line with the corporate ER policy guidelines and applicable country legislative requirements.


The work location for this position is Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Deliver advice, guidance, and coaching on country-level employee relations work processes.
  • Manage employee relations within the region, including mediation, performance management and workplace investigations.
  • Lead workplace employee relations cases from investigation intake and reporting; to final recommendation.
  • Coordinate disciplinary outcomes and/or corrective actions including coaching managers & supervisors in best practice delivery.
  • Deliver employee relations consulting across manager & employee concerns, grievances and disputes.
  • Provide counsel to projects on maintaining harmonious employee relations through clear and concise communication of employee relations programs.
  • Recommend and implement changes to ER policies, procedures and strategy through monitoring relevant legislative changes within the region. 
  • Promote and support referrals to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). 
  • Manage regional support in relation to tribunal hearings, claims and legal matters pertaining to employee relations.
  • Assess and make recommendations on Client specific requirements and/or initiatives that affect employee relations within the region.
  • Deliver ER support to Project HR ensuring consistency and compliance of regional ER activities
  • Perform other duties as required by the Lead ER Partner and/or Regional HR Manager-MEA


Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or international equivalent), plus 5-8  years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience, with preference in ER.Knowledge of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and MEA employment legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Intermediate or advanced proficiency in English and Arabic, including both written and verbal communication.
  • Must have strong written communication skills with the ability to effectively articulate issues and resolutions with high attention to detail for producing concise and thorough investigation reports.
  • Demonstrated experience in multiple HR disciples including policy development, employment compliance, employee relations and project delivery.
  • Experience managing employee relations cases, including those escalated to external bodies.
  • Extensive knowledge of regional employment legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Experience coordinating and facilitating a reduction in force activities.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting research, investigating alternatives and recommending solutions on areas affecting employee relations.
  • Previous experience working within a large matrix organization.
  • Ability to travel as required.

  • Strong delivery focus and proven ability to exercise a high degree of confidentiality, individual initiative and judgment.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, whilst managing changing priorities & deadlines with multiple stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, flexible and able to work across multiple work fronts is essential.
  • Proven experience in conducting workplace investigations and preparing investigation reports.
  • Intermediate skill in MS office suite producing business-level reports, presentations and recommendations.
