About the job QUANTITY SURVEYOR

 Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of interior fit out projects. This includes preparing cost estimates, controlling project budgets, tendering processes, managing contracts, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. The QS will work closely with project managers, contractors, designers, and clients to ensure that all fit out requirements are met efficiently and cost-effectively.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Cost Estimation & Budgeting:
    • Prepare detailed cost estimates for fit out projects based on architectural plans and client specifications.
    • Advise on the best value options and methods of construction to achieve the desired fit out within the allocated budget.
    • Develop project cost plans, monitor and report on budget performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  2. Tendering & Procurement:
    • Assist in the preparation and issue of tender documentation, ensuring that it accurately reflects the project scope and requirements.
    • Assess tenders received from contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
    • Negotiate terms and prices with contractors and suppliers to achieve the best value for money.
  3. Contract Administration:
    • Administer contracts in accordance with agreed terms, monitoring and managing progress to ensure that contractual obligations are met.
    • Review and process any changes to the contract or project scope (variations), ensuring proper documentation and approval.
    • Manage claims and disputes arising from contract terms or project issues, working with legal or project management teams when necessary.
  4. Cost Control & Reporting:
    • Monitor project costs and cash flow, identifying potential budget overruns early and advising the project team on corrective actions.
    • Prepare regular cost reports for clients, including forecasting final costs and addressing potential budget discrepancies.
    • Assess and report on financial performance throughout the fitout process, ensuring financial targets are met.
  5. Risk Management:
    • Identify and assess financial risks that may impact the fitout project, including delays, scope changes, and cost fluctuations.
    • Propose and implement strategies to mitigate financial risks and ensure smooth project delivery.
  6. Final Account & Closeout:
    • Prepare final accounts for the fitout project, ensuring all contractual sums and adjustments are accounted for.
    • Resolve any outstanding issues and ensure that all financial matters are settled before project completion.
  7. Stakeholder Communication:
    • Act as a key point of contact for the client, contractors, and project team regarding all financial aspects of the project.
    • Provide advice to stakeholders on cost implications of design or construction changes.
    • Work with the project manager to ensure that all aspects of the project are delivered in line with client expectations.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education: A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: 10 years of experience and Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor in fit out projects or similar commercial construction environments.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of construction contracts and tendering processes.
    • Proficiency in cost estimation software and Excel.
    • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
    • Knowledge of local construction regulations and industry standards.
    • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Financial Management: Ability to manage large-scale budgets and effectively control project costs.
  • Contractual Knowledge: In-depth understanding of standard construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC, FIDIC).
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple aspects of the project simultaneously while ensuring timely completion of financial tasks.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients to achieve project success.
