AtkinsRéalis is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented, self-starter to join our Project as a manager – Plants and Wet Utilities. He/She will support projects for District Cooling, Solid waste management, Water, Greywater, Sewage, and waste water clients in Saudi Arabia, including planning, designing and preparing plans related to District cooling, water and wastewater infrastructure which may be comprised of District cooling plants, chilled water, water distribution and sewage collection systems, pump stations, reservoirs, hydraulic structures, and water/wastewater treatment facilities.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Technical leadership on large multi-disciplinary water projects delivery
  • Technical leadership on PPP projects and familiar with all type of PPP contracts like BOOT, BOT, DBO, EPC and other type of contracts.
  • Technical feasibility, technical evaluation, tender preparation, RFP preparations, bid evaluation related to District cooling, water and wastewater treatment plants.
  • Perform Demand and capacity analysis for identified buildings to be connected to a District Cooling process.
  • Investigate and determine estimated conversion cost of identified area buildings
  • Perform the Conceptual planning of the district cooling plant and the location for centralized absorption units with cooling towers and/or ground wells for condensing heat
  • Concept design of chilled water distribution network including pipe material, type of insulations, design pressure and preliminary layout with specifications on dimension, length and type of installations per stretch
  • Develop Analysis of Customer Energy Transfer Stations (ETS) including type of ETS (direct/indirect), material, design pressure and design temperatures (in and out)
  • Develop Analysis of identified sourcing costs such as electricity, water and wood fuel
  • Provide reports on CAPEX and OPEX for evaluated proposals
  • Perform Profitability analysis and development schedule of proposals
  • Develop and refine knowledge products, tools, training materials, policy recommendations, communication pieces and draft recommendations on demonstration projects and technology transfer.
  • Technically support capacity building and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure high quality of outputs, support matchmaking of projects with partners and financiers to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
  • Ensure timely delivery of work packages, outputs, and deliverables as outlined in the project work plan.
  • Review of design technical submissions from service providers, technical consultants
  • Experience in multiple District Cooling development projects, chilled water distribution systems, Energy transfer stations.
  • Experience in multiple wastewater treatment like greywater and sewage treatment systems.
  • Lead all the projects related to utility plants inlcuding automatic solid waste management systems.
  • Lead single and multi-disciplinary discipline bids, with a clear focus on what is needed to win
  • Build and motivate a team and demonstrate good leadership qualities
  • Manage and report on project performance
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and ensure that a good Health & Safety culture is engendered within the team
  • Staff recruitment, retention and development making sure staff reach their performance potential
  • Develop a highly motivated and performing team creating opportunities for the development of individuals
  • Provide technical expertise on a variety of large engineering projects related to District cooling, water treatment plants, RO plants, Solid waste management, chilled water distributions systems, water distribution systems.
  • Oversee designs and budgets and drive projects from tender to delivery in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Increase your networking profile with both internal and external clients

  • Annual, quarterly and monthly reporting
  • The development of policies, procedures, and standards
  • Preparing design and project briefs
  • Conducting design reviews

  • Maintain a watching brief on latest technologies in utility plants, industry standards and regulation
  • Perform tasks of a technical, organizational and analytical nature, as part of projects on scaling-up district cooling
  • The position will require significant liaison with UNEP Asia-Pacific Office, UNEP Paris office and UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre.
  • The consultant will be based in New Delhi, India initially but should be flexible to operate from another city in India as per requirement.
  • The Cool Coalition is a global multi-stakeholder network that connects a wide range of key actors from government, cities, international organizations, businesses, finance, academia, and civil society groups to facilitate knowledge exchange, advocacy, and joint action towards a rapid global transition to efficient and climate-friendly cooling and heat resilience.
  • The Secretariat of the Cool Coalition is based in UNEP. The consultant’s assignment is to provide technical expertise and organizational support for the development, establishment and dissemination of knowledge and best practices for district cooling in India in close collaboration with knowledge and expertise under UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre.
  • This has as objective to support the government of India in accelerating the market and knowledge sharing for energy efficient and climate friendly District Cooling Systems.
  • Develope and refine knowledge products, tools, training materials, policy recommendations, communication pieces and draft recommendations on demonstration projects and technology transfer.
  • Technically support capacity building and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure high quality of outputs, support matchmaking of projects with partners and financiers to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
  • Ensure timely delivery of work packages, outputs, and deliverables as outlined in the project work plan.

Requirements:


  • B.Sc./B.Eng in Mechanical Engineer with registration in SCE.
  • The potential candidate has 15 years of experience in a similar role/project.
  • The candidate must have worked at least 8 to 10 mega development programs requires district cooling, water and waste water treatment plants, distribution systems and other wet utilities.

Additionally, the applicant should have experience with a combination of the following skills:


  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong technical writing and communications skills. Experience and familiarity with the following programs is a plus: BIM 360, Navisworks,ArcGIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Info Works, SWMM, Storm/Sewer/Water CAD, Revit/BIM experience.
  • General Competencies expected of all Professionals and Managers are as follows: Client Service, Commitment, Communication, Innovation & Continuous Improvement, Professionalism, Quality, and Teamwork.
  • Ability to process paper/electronic documents and utilize computer equipment; ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; ability to visit project sites if necessary.
  • Job also requires ability to assemble and analyze data.
