Job Description
As the Project Controls Director, you will oversee all project controls activities, including planning, scheduling, cost control, and risk management, for a Giga Project within the building and infrastructure sector. With extensive experience in Project Management Consultancy (PMC) environments, your role will involve ensuring that the projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the project controls function for large-scale Giga Projects, ensuring comprehensive planning, scheduling, cost control, and reporting processes are established and maintained.
- Develop and implement project control strategies that align with the project's objectives, ensuring cost and schedule performance targets are met.
- Provide oversight and governance on project schedules, budgets, risk management, and progress reporting across multiple projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and integrity of project controls data.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project controls plans, integrating cost and schedule activities to support decision-making processes.
- Establish reporting structures, tools, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor project performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Manage change control processes to assess the impact of scope changes on schedule and budget, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Direct the integration of earned value management (EVM) to assess project progress and performance.
- Identify and mitigate project risks by implementing proactive controls and risk management practices.
- Lead and mentor a team of project controls professionals, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management, clients, and stakeholders, offering insights on potential issues and areas of improvement.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, client requirements, and PMC best practices.
- Collaborate with financial, procurement, and contractual teams to align project controls activities with overall project execution strategy.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; a Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
- 25+ years of experience in project controls, with the majority spent in PMC environments managing large-scale building and infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in managing project controls on Giga Projects or other large-scale complex projects.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies, with advanced skills in planning, scheduling, and cost control.
- Expertise in industry-standard project controls software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Cost Control Tools, etc.).
- Solid experience with earned value management (EVM) and risk management techniques.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a focus on fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with senior stakeholders, clients, and project teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of making informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of regional regulations, construction practices, and standards within the building and infrastructure sector is an advantage.
