DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(GENERAL)
- Operate welding units and equipment by depositing metal from electrode to work piece and joins edges of work piece.
- Select and set up welding equipment.
- Do assignments within the budgeted hours.
- Read fabrication drawings and get clarifications from the fabrication supervisor, or the production engineer, for any ambiguity before starting.
- Inform fabrication supervisor of any difficulties before starting or during the job.
- Mark up any changes on the fabrication drawings and forward them to the fabrication supervisor.
- Ensure welds meet standards and specifications.
- Cut materials to required sizes using saw and/or gas.
- Be precise and accurate and minimize steel wastage.
- Cleaning the surfaces after cutting to prepare for welding
- Tack welding as per approved procedure and drawings. Coordinate with the fabrication supervisor and QC for inspection
- Full welding after QC inspection and make sure to grind any spatter
- Operate the overhead crane to move skid bases and fuel tanks components.
- Maintain tools and report any shortages (tools or consumables) to the fabrication supervisor.
- Maintain the welding machines and report any malfunctions to the fabrication supervisor.
- Follow health and safety procedures for safe work practices.
- Pay attention to personal safety and use safety gear all the time
- Maintain the working areas to be clean and organized.

QUALIFICATIONS/ TRAINING COURSES
- Diploma/Certificate Welding or equivalent vocational certificatie
- Certification in SMAW and/or MIG welding
- AWS certification
Experience
Minimum 3 years pertinent experience
