Job Description
Job Summary: The Procurement Architectural Engineer - Packaging is responsible for managing the procurement process of architectural and structural materials specifically related to packaging projects. This role requires a blend of architectural knowledge, technical procurement skills, and project management capabilities to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials while maintaining quality and adhering to project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vendor Identification and Selection:
- Identify and qualify vendors/suppliers capable of providing architectural and structural materials required for packaging projects.
- Evaluate vendor capabilities, performance history, and financial stability to establish partnerships that align with project requirements and organizational goals.
- Procurement Planning and Strategy:
- Develop procurement strategies and plans based on project timelines, budget constraints, and material specifications.
- Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to align procurement activities with project milestones and objectives.
- Contract Negotiation and Management:
- Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts with vendors to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms while ensuring compliance with quality standards and project specifications.
- Manage contract execution, including monitoring vendor performance, resolving disputes, and ensuring adherence to contractual obligations.
- Material Specifications and Compliance:
- Work closely with architects, engineers, and designers to understand material requirements and specifications for packaging projects.
- Ensure all procured materials meet regulatory, safety, and environmental standards as well as project-specific quality standards.
- Cost Management and Budgeting:
- Develop and manage procurement budgets in coordination with project financial requirements.
- Conduct cost analysis, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement strategies to optimize procurement expenditures without compromising quality or project timelines.
- Project Coordination and Communication:
- Coordinate procurement activities with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of materials procurement with project schedules.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and maintain alignment on project goals.
- Risk Management and Problem-Solving:
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies related to procurement activities.
- Proactively address procurement-related challenges and issues to minimize disruptions and ensure project continuity.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including contracts, purchase orders, and vendor communications.
- Prepare regular reports on procurement performance, expenditures, and project milestones for management review.
Skills
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field. A Master’s degree may be preferred.
- Proven experience in architectural design or engineering, with a focus on packaging materials and construction.
- Strong understanding of architectural and structural materials used in packaging projects.
- Demonstrated experience in procurement, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
