The Role



This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced and client-focused Mechanical Engineering Building Services expert to join our growing team in Riyadh, KSA. Reporting to the Associate Director, the Principal Engineer will take a leading role in the successful delivery of projects.
The Principal Engineer will be instrumental in guiding the MEP design team, ensuring seamless project execution, and delivering high-quality, innovative MEP solutions. This role demands strong technical leadership, subject matter expertise, and the ability to provide consultancy services while effectively collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include managing project teams, fostering strong client relationships, and overseeing and mentoring less experienced team members. Additionally, the Principal Engineer will play a crucial role in driving the successful execution of cutting-edge building projects across KSA and the broader MENA region.
Working across a variety of sectors such as Education, Commercial, Retail and Critical Systems, you will support financial aspects of projects and work closely with colleagues of various disciplines to manage the delivery of technically excellent, profitable projects.
You will be an expert in design and Engineering within your discipline and across Building Services and be part of a global skills community for sharing knowledge, projects and your specific expertise.
You will develop new and nurture existing outstanding client relationships and ensure repeat business as well as use your wealth of expertise and determination to manage, motivate and lead our group of multi-disciplinary engineers.

The Skills



Degree level in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering, you bring extensive experience within a building services context. Ideally, you have proven experience in a similar role. Demonstrating a deep understanding of low-energy design and technical expertise in the relevant design software. The ideal candidate will have a holistic understanding of building elements, recognizing the impact of MEP services on structural and architectural design while proactively seeking creative and innovative solutions.
In your most recent position, you would have consistently demonstrated your ability to manage multiple large-scale projects and teams to deliver to, and exceed client expectations, and crucially you have a passion for creative and intuitive design.
Given the collaborative and client focused nature of this role, excellent communication and project management skills are essential. Regional or international experience would be an added advantage.
What You’ll Be Doing as a Principal Mechanical Engineer
Design Leadership: Oversee multiple projects from concept to construction documentation, ensuring compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and local and international regulations. This includes performing calculations, selecting equipment, and preparing detailed drawings and specifications. Project Management: Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with project requirements while maintaining the highest quality standards. Team Collaboration: Work closely with architects, interior designers, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to seamlessly integrate mechanical services into building designs. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design team members. Effective Communication: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring seamless coordination across teams, including those located outside KSA, to deliver cohesive and efficient designs. Quality Assurance: Contribute to and uphold quality assurance procedures, ensuring accuracy and reliability in MEP designs. Continuously review contract documents to enhance constructability, safety, and long-term performance throughout the MEP system lifecycle. Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong client relationships, addressing concerns proactively and delivering well-engineered solutions that meet both client and end-user expectations. Innovation & Sustainability: Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies, integrating energy-efficient and sustainable design solutions. Assess new technologies for reliability and feasibility within project constraints to drive long-term value.
