Job Purpose
Responsible to provide mine engineering services to meet the business needs in support of existing operations and the study/project pipeline at Ma’aden.
Also performs engineering duties on Operations and growth Projects with significant business impact to Ma’aden. The role encompasses
- a range of engineering and technical activities,
- involving some or all the steps from identifying substantial technical problems and opportunities
- through devising engineering approaches processes and plans to resolve the challenge
- build consistency in processes and procedures between UG operations
- to researching, explaining, acquiring and assembling the resources to implement the plans.
The role will be expected to contribute to the development and implementation of standards, guidelines, and best engineering practices for application to Ma’aden gold projects and operations.
Key Accountabilities
Establishing and maintaining systems that ensure UG Engineering functions are carried out safely and in alignment with industry standards.
Provide input into the formulation, improvement, and measure effectiveness of the Ma'aden policies, standards and procedures,
Work within Health and Safety Guidelines and Company standards and ensure the mine design, mining, and overall production is meeting the EHSS standards,
Monitor and manage geotechnical functions and geological activities, ventilation, grade control, mine planning ensuring adherence to company goals and targets,
Ensure the mining engineering project and operation teams aligned with overall company strategy and policies,
Provide scheduling and long term / short term strategic planning for the mine,
Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of mine engineering standards, guidelines, and best practice; provide technical feedback grounded in practical knowledge and practices across UG Ma’aden operations and by effectively presenting with applicable site representatives,
Work with the Geological, Geotechnical, Metallurgical, and EHSS Functional Leads for alignment of process,
Provide underground mining engineering skills to growth project,
Support of corporate functions including Business Planning - budget reviews, and Business Improvement exercises,
Additional responsibilities include mine engineering work as needed with an emphasis on unit costing, mine design & planning, benchmarking, and mine plan and operational optimization.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor in Mine Engineering or related field required
- Registered, or eligible to register in Recognized Professional Organization, as a Competent Person to follow 2012 JORC
- A minimum of 12 years combined mine engineering and operations experience, most at underground operations, including substantial experience in hard rock gold mines.

Skills:
- Knowledge of reserve estimation,
- High level of competence in the use of mine planning software (preferably Surpac, Deswik)
- Ability to present to and collaborate with corporate executives and the site Senior Leadership Team required
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access) required
- Knowledge in Safety requirements.
