The RoleThe increasing levels of integration of renewable energy resources and diversification away from traditional energy sources are significantly impacting power grids. By addressing challenges and leveraging opportunities, Generation Management System (GMS) can play a crucial role in transforming the energy landscape towards a more sustainable and efficient future.
We are seeking Power System Developers to contribute to the development of our industry leading GMS suite, which assists generation utilities in real-time monitoring, visualization, control and optimization of generation resources. As a member of an Agile development team, you will design and implement advanced applications that help our utility customers meet generation demands, integrate with energy markets and better leverage renewable energy sources.Your Impact
  • Model and simulate steady-state and dynamic behavior of conventional and renewable generation resources.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain various products within GMS, such as Unit Commitment, Economic Control and Energy Accounting.
  • Research, develop, and implement advanced optimization and dispatch problems solutions relating to energy generation.
  • Write software to integrate with global energy markets.
  • Conduct activities following software development process including:
  • Participate in use case discussion and design discussion.
  • Create test procedures and perform new code testing.
  • Develop product documentation.
  • Perform technical code reviews.
     
What You'll Need
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, Mathematics or related technical field. PhD in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems Emphasis is preferred, EX, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience with power systems simulation tools such as MATLAB, PSCAD and/or PSSE.
  • Programming experience using Matlab, Python, C/C++ and/or C#.
  • Familiarity with mixed integer programming and convex optimization.
  • Familiarity with industrial solvers like Gurobi, COIN-OR, and/or CPL.
     

Preferred


  • Advanced understanding of power systems concepts in power generation modeling and operation.
  • Experience in data analytics and artificial intelligence, with the ability to apply these technologies to enhance power system analysis and optimization.
