Job Purpose / Objective
Assess, diagnose, treat and evaluate abnormalities and diseases related to the foot and lower limb in people of all ages in coordination with the assigned Consultant , utilizing the full range of Podiatric skills and knowledge and evidence based practice to achieve satisfactory outcomes for service users based on their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
- Conduct the preliminary investigation of the patient under the observation of a senior staff and as permitted by his / her Consultant.
- Examine history and physical of the patient and initial order, and investigate elective admission of assigned consultant.
- Perform rounds (with the Consultants and independently) daily in his / her duty hours, updates progress notes, and follows-up on all pending tests results.
- Follow-up consultations from other Departments or other members of his / her own Department.
- Assist diagnostic or therapeutic invasive procedures if required specifically privileged according to his / her training, experience and special skills with the approval of a Consultant or Coordinator of Department and the Chairperson of the Credentialing and Privileging Committee.
- Assist in conducting clinics, if needed, under the supervision of her/ his Consultant.
- Prescribe medications, if allowed to do so in accordance with Hospital rules and the individual’s privileges granted by the Medical Director.
- Communicate and interact with the patients in order to ensure patient-doctor relations. Sensitively discuss information with the patient/family information regarding patient condition and treatment plan.
- Participate in all medical staff teaching programs and academic activities of his / her department and of the hospital.
- Serve on departmental / hospital committees as required.
- Responsible to implement all approved policies and procedures, rules, regulations, policies and procedures, protocols and guidelines/ clinical pathways that guide and support the provision of services for the specialty.
- Actively participate in the on-going performance improvement of clinical services.
- Ensure that Islamic Values and Medical Ethics are respected and strictly observed.
- Educate patients/families on the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
- Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
- Enriche patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
- Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his / her knowledge, skills and abilities.
Education/ Professional Qualification
- MSC - Master’s Degree in Podiatry, Related degree (or sub specialty) or equivalent
Experience
Minimum of Three (3) years’ experience as a Podiatric Assistant in a reputable healthcare provider setting
Professional Licensing / Certification / Training
