Job Purpose:


The Planning Manager for the Corporate Safety Department is responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing all planning and scheduling activities related to safety projects and initiatives within the organization. This role ensures that safety objectives are met on time and within budget by effectively managing resources and aligning project timelines with departmental goals.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Strategic Planning:
    • Develop and implement detailed project plans for safety initiatives, ensuring alignment with the department’s strategic objectives.
    • Analyze project timelines, resource needs, and budget requirements for safety-related activities.
    • Set clear objectives and define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of safety projects.
  • Project Coordination:
    • Coordinate with safety teams to gather information and ensure that project goals and deliverables are clearly understood.
    • Adjust project schedules to accommodate changes or challenges while maintaining a focus on safety priorities.
    • Facilitate communication between the Corporate Safety Department and other departments to streamline processes.
  • Resource Management:
    • Allocate resources effectively to meet the specific needs of safety projects and optimize productivity.
    • Identify potential risks to resource availability in safety initiatives and propose solutions to address them.
    • Coordinate with external stakeholders, contractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with safety project requirements.
  • Performance Monitoring:
    • Track progress against safety project timelines and KPIs to ensure objectives are being met.
    • Implement continuous improvement processes for planning safety-related activities.
    • Prepare regular progress reports and updates on safety projects for senior management.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control:
    • Develop budget estimates and manage costs related to safety projects in line with departmental guidelines.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising the quality or safety of the projects.
    • Review and approve expenditures related to planning and executing safety initiatives.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks in safety projects and develop effective mitigation strategies.
    • Conduct risk assessments for safety initiatives and implement control measures to minimize potential delays.
    • Ensure all safety projects comply with relevant industry standards and best practices.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project planning, scheduling, or a similar role, preferably within a safety or industrial environment.
  • Proven experience with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive project success.
