About the job Planning Engineer
General Description of Role and Responsibilities:
- Works with all project disciplines to supervise and ensure understanding of total project schedule needs and integration of scheduled activities.
- Develops and maintains the master schedule as per the contractual requirements, specifications, method statement of the project and company standards.
- Analyzes Project progress and performance using Earned Value Management to establish Key Performance Indicators (SV & SPI) and recommend preventive and corrective actions.
- Calculates resource allocation to the schedule and levelling to maintain the peak manpower and equipment requirements and establish a Progress Measurement System.
- Gathers actual data, updates project schedule, and develops reliable schedule forecasts with support from the project team.
- Coordinates monthly/weekly/daily scheduling with all concerned departments for conflict resolution and optimum utilization of resources.
- Identifies critical and sub-critical activities of the project and analyzes their impact on the overall completion schedule, considering the actual status and trends.
- Monitors project schedules, manpower and quantity reporting to ensure the preparation and presentation of the Critical Items Action Report.
- Monitors project schedule analysis and studies problem areas to determine the criticality of scheduled activities and recommend alternatives for schedule improvement to the project team for discussion and/or decision.
- Prepares the Construction Look Ahead Schedules, Mitigation and Recovery Schedule in close coordination with the PM/CM, including but not limited to, other relevant Project Staff and the Subcontractors.
- Validates the Sub-contractor Schedule.
- Checks all As-Built Schedules and ensures that they are correct and are closed for all projects.
- Provides lessons learned presentations for scheduling processes.
- Participates in developing and presenting designated subjects in training classes and on-the-job training programs.
- Maintains standards of safety and complies with Company's Health, Safety and Environment Management System requirements.
- Takes reasonable care of own health and safety and that of others in the workplace.
- Follows and maintains Company standards of Quality in accordance with Company Quality System requirements.
- Informs themselves of the relevant Quality, Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health Policies, Manuals and Procedures in place within Hill International, and ensures continued compliance with these requirements while employed by Hill.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager/supervisor.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelors degree in engineering, preferably Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or similar technical qualification.
- Minimum 15 years relevant experience in complex Construction Projects, main Contracting background (preferable in Public Buildings, Infrastructure, Airports etc.).
- Experience and demonstrated skill in performing, monitoring, reviewing, and presenting project planning and scheduling functions, which include schedule development, and schedule analysis, with demonstrated skill in establishing criteria, planning and supervising project scheduling activities.
- Excellent knowledge of productivity analysis and resource calculation.
- Skilled in supervision and training of technical and non-technical personnel.
- Knowledge of engineering, construction and business management techniques customarily acquired by a prolonged course of specialized instruction. Knowledge of current industry and technical developments.
- Proven track record with recognized international standard companies, preferably from Saudi Arabia, particularly in Middle East operations and projects.
- Ability to communicate and work using English. Arabic skills are a plus.
- Expert-level experience in the field of planning and scheduling.
- Proficiency in Project planning Software, such as Primavera P6, MS-Project, MS Office, and others.
- Preference for PSP, PMI-SP, PMP.
