Job Description
Summary:
The Planning Engineer plays a crucial role in developing and implementing project plans, ensuring efficient resource allocation, adherence to timelines, and project completion within budget. They work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to plan, schedule, and monitor engineering projects, ensuring the smooth execution of project activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including detailed schedules, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret project data to identify potential issues and trends.
- Monitor project progress against plans, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and identifying deviations or delays.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve project issues, optimize resource utilization, and ensure project alignment with organizational goals.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to minimize the impact of potential issues.
- Prepare and present project status reports to project managers, senior management, and stakeholders.
- Utilize project management software, such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, to effectively manage project plans and schedules.
- Stay up-to-date on project management methodologies, planning tools, and engineering technologies.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project planning and scheduling processes.
Skills
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in planning engineering, project management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the organization's industry or sector.
- Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
- Experience in conducting risk assessments and developing mitigation plans.
- Familiarity with cost estimation and resource allocation techniques.
- Fluency in one or more foreign languages.
