Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Network Engineer specializing in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join our team. This role is integral to designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network solutions within the GCP environment. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in cloud networking, security, and connectivity, contributing to the seamless operation of our cloud-based systems.
Key Responsibilities: - GCP Network Design & Implementation:
- Design and deploy secure and scalable network architectures in GCP, including VPCs, subnets, and firewall rules.
- Configure and manage GCP-specific networking services, such as Cloud Interconnect, Cloud VPN, and Cloud Load Balancing.
- Implement hybrid connectivity solutions between on-premises and GCP environments.
Network Infrastructure Management: - Monitor and maintain network performance to ensure optimal latency, availability, and scalability.
- Configure and manage DNS, NAT, and IP management within the GCP ecosystem.
- Implement best practices for network redundancy and disaster recovery.
Cloud Security: - Ensure compliance with security policies by configuring IAM roles, firewalls, and encryption standards.
- Identify, mitigate, and respond to potential security threats and vulnerabilities in GCP.
- Manage DDoS protection and other security measures using tools like Cloud Armor.
Performance Optimization: - Optimize network traffic and performance using tools such as Cloud Monitoring and Traffic Director.
- Perform root cause analysis for network issues and implement long-term solutions.
Collaboration & Documentation: - Work closely with cloud architects, DevOps, and cross-functional teams to integrate networking solutions into larger cloud strategies.
- Document network configurations, changes, and best practices for internal teams.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in network engineering, with at least 1+ year in GCP cloud networking.
- Expertise in Google Cloud networking services such as:
- VPC, Cloud Interconnect, Cloud VPN, Cloud Armor, Cloud Load Balancing.
- Strong understanding of network protocols (BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP) and firewall configurations.
- Proficiency in configuring hybrid cloud connectivity and troubleshooting GCP networking issues.
- Hands-on experience with SDN (Software-Defined Networking) in cloud environments.
- Certifications:
- Google Cloud Certified – Professional Cloud Network Engineer (preferred).
Preferred Skills: - Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes networking and managing containerized environments.
- Knowledge of load balancers, NAT gateways, and traffic shaping in GCP.
- Exposure to other cloud platforms like AWS or Azure is a plus.
Soft Skills: - Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical and non-technical teams.
- Adaptability to evolving technologies and project needs.
