Job Description

Job Purpose / Objective 


Responsible for assisting with nursing care and preparation of obstetrical/surgical patients by performing routine and delegated duties according to the standards and policies of HMG and Nursing Department.


Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities


  • Ensure that nursing care plans are written and up to date. Always taking the patients individual needs into account.
  • Assess the patient and determine deviations from normal during the process of labor and postpartum period.
  • Assist the team in dealing with a life threatening situation during delivery to provide initial stabilization pending arrival of the physician.
  • Assess and care for the normal newborn immediately after birth.
  • Provide assistance with post-partum care including breastfeeding.
  • Set up for deliveries and other procedures.
  • Clean equipment, forwards same for re-sterilization and helps set up for next case. Coordinate with the maintenance of a clean, safe environment.
  • Assist with a patient examination.
  • Process physicians' orders as per policy including use of the order-entry system.
  • Utilize the communication systems in an efficient and effective manner (telephone, computer, tube system, mail system, etc.)
  • Assist in the maintenance of all supplies and equipment and clean-up / re-set up after deliveries.
  • Provide assistance in emergency procedures as well as elective and scheduled cases.
  • Transport stable of patients for diagnostic testing and for movement between LDR and other departments.
  • Assist and support patient during labor and delivery process.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with other Departments in booking procedures, tracking information, and obtaining supplies or equipment for staff and patients.
  • Responsible to provide patient and family education.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of patient information that is seen or overheard.
  • Comply with the standards and perform duties necessary to support, achieve and maintain national and international accreditation.
  • Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
  • Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
  • Perform other applicable task and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

Education/ Professional Qualification


  • Diploma in Midwifery

Experience


  • Minimum of 1 year working experience in same specialty


Professional Licensing / Certification / Training


  • License from Country of origin or Saudi Council Registration


  • BLS or relevant certifications
