Job Description
Key Role: The
Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing, installing, and
maintaining mechanical systems for a landmark museum project in Mecca. This
includes HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and specialized systems tailored to
the unique requirements of a museum environment. The role requires integrating
cutting-edge mechanical solutions with the architectural and structural
elements of the project to ensure a safe, comfortable, and efficient facility
for visitors, staff, and artifacts.
Responsibilities
Mechanical
System Design
- Design and
specify mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and
environmental control systems, tailored to museum needs.
- Develop
solutions for temperature and humidity control critical to preserving artifacts
and maintaining visitor comfort.
- Ensure all
designs meet energy efficiency and sustainability goals, aligning with local
regulations and international standards.
System
Integration- Collaborate
with architects, structural engineers, and electrical engineers to integrate
mechanical systems seamlessly into the overall building design.
- Work with
museum specialists to ensure systems meet specific requirements for artifact
preservation and exhibition spaces.
Construction
Oversight
- Supervise
the installation and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring adherence to
design specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct
inspections and tests to verify the performance and reliability of installed
systems.
- Troubleshoot
and resolve issues during the construction and commissioning phases.
Compliance
and Quality Assurance
- Ensure
mechanical systems comply with local codes, international standards, and
museum-specific guidelines.
- Prepare
detailed technical documentation, including design calculations, system
schematics, and operation manuals.
Specialized
Museum Needs
- Design and
implement specialized systems for smoke control, ventilation, and clean air
circulation in exhibit and storage spaces.
- Ensure the
mechanical systems can handle large visitor volumes while maintaining optimal
indoor conditions.
Sustainability
and Innovation
- Research
and apply innovative mechanical technologies and materials to enhance system
performance and energy efficiency.
- Incorporate
renewable energy solutions, where feasible, to align with the project’s
sustainability objectives.
Stakeholder
Communication- Coordinate
with contractors, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure mechanical works
align with project goals and timelines.
- Provide
regular updates on system design, progress, and performance to the project
team.
Recommended
Technical Skills
- Proficiency
in HVAC design and load calculation software such as HAP, Carrier E-20, or
TRACE 700.
- Strong
knowledge of plumbing, fire protection, and mechanical systems design.
- Familiarity
with environmental control systems for sensitive environments such as museums
or archives.
- Expertise
in mechanical system modeling using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or
SolidWorks.
- Understanding
of energy efficiency standards and green building certifications (e.g., LEED,
Estidama).
- Knowledge

Minimum
Qualifications- Bachelor’s
degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum
Experience- At least 10
years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong background in

facilities such as museums, exhibition spaces, or heritage buildings.
