Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Material Specialist to join our PMC team for a large-scale infrastructure project. The candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of material planning, procurement, inspection, and delivery, ensuring that materials are sourced, stored, and supplied in line with project timelines, specifications, and quality standards. Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain material planning and procurement strategies in collaboration with the project management and engineering teams.
Oversee the preparation of material requisitions, purchase orders, and ensure timely ordering of materials based on project schedules.
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality materials at competitive prices.
Evaluate and qualify suppliers and vendors in line with project requirements.
Monitor supplier performance, addressing any issues related to material quality, delivery, or pricing.
Negotiate contracts with suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
Oversee the inspection of incoming materials to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and ensure corrective actions are taken in case of material quality issues.
Coordinate with the Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) team to maintain stringent quality control measures.
Maintain accurate records of all material transactions, from purchase to delivery and usage.
Ensure that all materials meet project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
Prepare regular reports on material status, availability, usage, and cost analysis for the project team.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CIPS, CSCP, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in material management for large-scale engineering or construction projects, preferably in the PMC or EPC environment.
Strong knowledge of material specifications, procurement processes, and quality assurance procedures.
Familiarity with construction materials for sectors like infrastructure, oil & gas, or industrial projects.
Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems.
Excellent organizational, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
