- Lead Hydrogen business unit, develop organization, tools, processes, governance
- Reflect vision as embodied by CEO, set strategic direction, operational plans, manage P&L
- External representative of ENOWA and NEOM

ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES
The Managing Director – Hydrogen & Green Fuels’ responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Develop and align strategic intent and execute strategy in conjunction with ENOWA’s CEO
- Set direction for the organization in terms of prioritisations, tasks and targets and develop organisational maturity
- Manage financial and human resources to support operational plan and strategy
- Manage the P&L and growth trajectory of the organization.
- Responsible for high profile, high value complex multiparty and high-risk Joint venture activities including Hydrogen Innovation and Development Centre (HIDC) and Neom Green Hydrogen Project (NGHP)
- HIDC: World first Power to X project, developing novel chemical processes including direct reduction of CO2 to Methanol, and converting Methanol to Gasoline via a fluidized bed reactor. Hydrogen input from a 20MW electrolyser will be directly coupled to the chemical conversion process. Output product for Aramco F1 sponsorship (zero emission fuel). Project value ~450M USD, project holds significant execution and operational risk including multiparty development and operations (including Aramco, NGHC, ThyssenKrupp and others)
- NGHP: world first 2 GW project for which the electrolyser in HIDC is the 1st module. JV with Accwa Power, Air Products and ENOWA. Project value >1B USD
- Responsible for all internal Hydrogen consumption and business model development and activation including mobility, temporary power, grid stabilization (non weather correlated events and other).
- Mobility—specifically Heavy Duty and Offroad are 2 of the largest CO2 emitters in the project.
- Temporary power—develop products to displace the >300M L diesel consumed/annum.
- Grid stability—deploy hydrogen as part of dispatchable flexible load to enable 100% renewable power network stability
- Projects and Ventures management—including project direction/advisory for major capital projects, capital investments at venture or growth equity stage, venture partnerships and other dilutive/non-dilutive financing models
- Advisor to CEO and CFO on key topics such as business model development, capital allocation (VIR/NPV targets), business model prioritization, technology and value chain
- Actively participate in creation and implementation of strategy for technology development across disciplines; run global programmes in conjunction with major business partners
- Lead and verify very complex multi discipline design work; participates in international standard setting and advisor committees
- Manage and oversee commercial opportunity managers from ideation through multiple risk managed stage gates, operating using agile and scrum best practices, optioneering and opportunity realization frameworks. Influences the organization on integrated value
- Leads H2 related marketing, partnership and branding partnerships to support the activities of ENOWA and NEOM

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 20 years’ experience with a proven track record in top tier firms within the Energy sector, including Oil & Gass, Private Equity/VC and Consulting, and/or Renewables sector
- Track record in a deeptech/hardtech start up environment (whether within a large company or preferably in the private market), with evidence of growing the business
- Evidence of global reach including conferences, papers, patents etc.
- Track record within the Power, Renewables, Hydrogen sectors
- Deep expertise in scaling organisations in the cleantech/deeptech domain
- Strong leadership and exceptional international network in renewables, hydrogen, low carbon fuels
- Technical mastery in hydrogen and adjacent fields including power, systems design, e-fuels, process design, techno-economics, mobility futures and energy trading
- Impeccable negotiation, commercial deal making and influencing skills
- Leadership attributes—managing teams, teams of teams and communities, responsibility for raising capital, P&L responsibilities, cost control, strategy.
- Safety leadership—strong track record in developing or maintaining safety culture
- Ability to work in highly dynamic environments, within multi-cultural and diverse teams
- Outstanding communication, written and spoken, gravitas, and ability to synthesise information rapidly to engage at C-level across strategic topics
- Deep understanding of value—top and bottom line, financing models and concepts
- Expertise in technical and business innovation as evidenced by patents, papers, product lines and commercial (revenue line) success for new businesses
- Successful development of major capital projects from ideation through to execution; chemical process, refinery operations, electrolyser deployment or topsides experience preferred.
