Manager, Application Architect

Role Overview

The Enterprise Application Architect performs the leadership, facilitation, analysis, and design tasks required to ensure all applications are evolving appropriately. The main task of this role is to provide strategic guidance and governance for the entire application landscape, understand interactions between applications and inputs on application rationalization, standards, reference architecture and blueprint applicable for the wider NEOM Digital Health ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain HW CMD application architecture specific EA mandates in terms principles, standards, policies, reference models, blueprints, rationalization with reuse, build vs buy decision making, articulating a future state strategic application architecture direction as part of the Design Authority/ Technical Review Group (TRG)
• Participates in the decision-making process of Architecture Review Board (ARB)
• Provide application / integration specific architectural guidance to extended team
• Collaborate with TONOMUS and NEOM Health Authority for alignment on applications architecture
• Support Technical Review Group (TRG) in architecture compliance review process at specific gates
• Document and develop in-depth knowledge of the existing application portfolio
• Help define the application and operational requirements that the computing infrastructure must support. Identify, analyse, and address any inter-application dependencies and interfaces.
• Guidance on the development, documentation, recommendations, and communication plans to the relevant stakeholder groups for investing in application and data related technology, based on a thorough understanding of business and application programs of national importance, their needs and capabilities and potential benefits
• Analyse the current architecture to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements such as expanding capacity, reducing time & cost, and increasing effectiveness
• Advise on periodic application rationalization exercise
• Work with the other enterprise architects and project architects to determine the most appropriate application to achieve the performance and scalability requirements

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Extensive experience in application development methodologies and design patterns
• Knowledgeable on SDLC methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile / Scrum / Iterative, Rapid Prototyping, Incremental, and DevOps.
• Experience with JIRA and Confluence.
• Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with Git command line, Git Tools, including GitLab.
• Experience in mapping business capabilities based on EA best practices and discover applications related to each business capability.
• Experience with building diagrams that represent as-is architecture and target architecture.
•  Experience with assessing applications by business criticality and functional & technical fit.
• Ensure best practices, frameworks and re-useable components are employed in the development project
• Utilize and leverage on industry standard EA tools to derive enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g. ABACUS) 

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in Enterprise Architect role
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
• Master’s degree in a related field preferred
• Excellent verbal/written communication and collaboration skills.
• Must be highly effective within a collaborative environment.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, Cloud (GCP, AWS, Azure) Certified Solutions Architect).
