Job Description

Job Summary:


The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing repairs and preventative maintenance of equipment according to maintenance scheduled and maintains appropriate repair/service records.  This position performs repairs to facility systems and equipment.  The incumbent also performs general facility repairs including: minor electrical repairs, minor plumbing repairs, painting, furniture assembly and rearrangement.


Reporting Relationships:


This job reports to: Manager, Facilities.  Reporting directly (or indirectly) to this position are the following job titles: Not Applicable.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Perform repairs on various equipment as requested by the Facilities Manager and maintain repair records;
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment according maintenance schedules and maintain maintenance records;
  • Coordinate services of outside venders as requested by the Manager, Facilities;
  • Performance repairs to facility systems and equipment as necessary to maintain a safe, secure and healthy work environment;
  • Report unsafe working conditions to management;
  • Maintain compressed air log books;
  • General facility repair responsibility including:
    • Minor electrical repair
    • Minor plumbing repair
    • Painting
    • Furniture assembly and rearrangement
  • Replace light bulbs throughout facility;
  • Coordinate recycling activities with outside vendor;
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, and climb a vertical ladder;
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned;

Minimum & Preferred Qualifications and Experience: 


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Three years or more of hands-on maintenance experience;
  • Must be PC literate, and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Outlook, Word, etc.);
  • Must possess good communication skills, and be able to interface with all levels of employees within the organization;
  • General mathematical skills; 
  • Must be able to follow oral and written communications; 
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, and climb a vertical ladder;

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Prior experience with Electrical or HVAC mechanical systems;

Education:


High School diploma or GED is required.


Physical requirements/Work Environment 

This position primarily works in an office environment. It requires frequent sitting, standing and walking.  Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required.  May stand for extended periods when facilitating meetings or walking in the facilities.  Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, and climb a vertical ladder.  Some local travel is necessary, so the ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid Driver’s license is required.
