Job Description
Job Purpose / Objective :
Perform variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing, monitoring, treating and preventing disease in assigned laboratory area/section as well as evaluating and reporting patient's results.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities :
- Receive and collect specimens in safe conditions for optimal laboratory testing.
- Prepare specimens and applies the approved analytical techniques in all laboratory areas.
- Record results in the laboratory information system and reports data accurately.
- Report patients’ abnormal results to the senior laboratory technician and/or immediate supervisor before final release.
- Do daily, weekly and monthly equipment maintenance, performs troubleshooting whenever needed and keeps spare parts of the machines always available.
- Coordinate with the biomedical engineers for scheduled preventive maintenance and for cases of machine breakdown.
- Perform the calibration of the machines in coordination with the senior laboratory technician.
- Apply Internal Quality Control (IQC), as needed or instructed by the manufacturer, and External Quality Control (EQC) Program as required by the national or the international accreditation organizations and refers it to the senior medical technologist/ senior laboratory technician for review.
- Record the laboratory results, in his/her area of assignment, in the
- designated logbooks.
- Help in monitoring the necessary stock levels of reagents and materials to ensure the at least two (2) months consumption.
- Participate in continuing medical education to enlarge the professional knowledge and competency.
- Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
- Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
- Provide patient and family education as per the need.
- Perform any other responsibility that may be assigned by Laboratory Supervisor or Laboratory Director.
Education/ Professional Qualification:
- Bachelors of Science in Medical Laboratory Science
Experience:
- Two (2) years of experience in General Laboratory or one year in an Andrology Lab. If the minimum qualification doesn’t meet then that will be covered by four (4) years of experience.
Professional Licensing / Certification / Training:
- Certification: Relevant certifications
- Licensing : Saudi Council for Health Specialties and current registration with the designated authority for the profession from the country of origin
