Job Description

The Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of inventory within the construction company. This role involves maintaining optimal inventory levels, ensuring the accuracy of inventory records, and coordinating with various departments to meet project needs. The Inventory Manager will also be tasked with developing and implementing inventory control procedures and systems to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management:
  • Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels to meet the demands of ongoing construction projects.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the inventory department, ensuring that materials and supplies are accurately recorded and stored.
  • Manage the receipt, storage, issuance, and tracking of all materials, tools, and equipment used in construction projects.
  • Inventory Control:
  • Implement and enforce inventory control procedures to minimize losses, theft, and obsolescence.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of inventory records.
  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
  • Coordination and Collaboration:
  • Work closely with project managers, procurement teams, and site supervisors to forecast material requirements and ensure timely availability of resources.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the timely delivery of materials and resolve any issues related to inventory shortages or delays.
  • Collaborate with the finance department to ensure accurate valuation and reporting of inventory.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
  • Prepare and present regular inventory reports, including stock levels, turnover rates, and any discrepancies.
  • Use inventory management software to track and report on inventory metrics and performance.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on inventory data and analysis.
  • Leadership and Supervision:
  • Lead and supervise the inventory team, providing training and guidance to ensure high performance.
  • Develop and implement training programs for staff on inventory management best practices.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the inventory department.
