ROLE OVERVIEW
Support the Water Transmission & Distribution Director in developing and implementing strategic plans, ensuring alignment with department goals. Lead operations and maintenance through the development of water master plans, design tasks, and technical oversight. Manage team operations to uphold standards and deliver innovative, cost-effective water project solutions.
ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES
The Hydraulic Technical Manager’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Strategy Development and Planning
- Support the Water Transmission & Distribution Director in developing the department strategy and related strategic plans
- Monitor and measure implementation of the departmental strategy and related strategic plans ensuring that variances are addressed in a timely manner
Operations and Maintenance
- Developing water master plans and concepts
- Providing technical expertise in water design tasks including project identification, feasibility studies, optioneering, conceptual design, preliminary design and tender documentation
- Managing the design of water schemes
- Preparing technical reports and presentations
- Providing innovative and cost-effective design solutions within time schedule and budget
- Preparing specifications for water projects.
- Ensuring the technical designs are consistent with the project's technical requirements.
- Participating in technical meetings with the client to reconcile deliverables.
- Overseeing the preparation of engineering cost estimates and analyses.
- Coordination /liaison with GIS Team and Water management team
- Review of Modeling works by consultants.
People Management
- Organize and supervise the work of the assigned team to ensure that all work within a specific area of the activity is carried out in an efficient manner, which is consistent with operating procedures and policy
- Provide guidance on the job training for junior colleagues and conduct knowledge sharing to facilitate the achievement of team objectives and completion of tasks in an efficient manner which is consistent with operating procedures and policy

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- 7+ years of experience in water hydraulic modelling and civil design within the water industry
- Expert user in hydraulic modelling software such as InfoWater, InfoSurge, WaterCAD, Water Hammer, WaterGems
- Expert user in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS
- Good understanding of project management frameworks and experience developing planning, monitoring and evaluation systems
- Proven ability to provide detailed technical assessments, recommendations and influence people at all levels
- Innovative approach, eager to challenge the status quo
- Ability to focus on short- and long-term strategic objectives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field.
